Skincare regimen might sound intimidating at first, but believe me, it just needs a little bit of getting used to and in 2 weeks you will be like a PRO! So, let’s make things simple. You can start with a 3-Step regimen or 5-Step regimen and once you are more comfortable, you can level up to 7-step skincare (which we will talk about in a separate article). Remember that depending on your age, skin type, and what you want to achieve, your morning and evening regimen may be different.
The 3-Step Skincare routine:
This easy skincare applies to everyone blessed with good genes. Hey! Say thanks to your parents. Meaning, you have normal skin and do not have any annoying blemishes, visible pores or popping pimples. This can be applicable for young skin between the age of 18 – 24.
- Cleanse
Wash your face every day morning and evening, even on weekends! This will ensure that all the dirt, make-up, pollution that got stuck on to your skin is removed. It is a big No to sleep with your make-up still on.
- Moisturize
Hydrating your skin while it is still damp from washing is the best time to put on your moisturizer. Again, this should be done every day, morning and night.
- Protect
This step is important in the morning. You can use a CC Cream or a liquid foundation. Choose one that is labeled “Non-Comedogenic”. This means the foundation will not clog your pores. The Mary Kay Complexion Correction Cream (CC Cream) is available in 2 shades, Ivory and Beige. While Mary Kay liquid foundation in 2 variants: Matte 3D Foundation for oily skin available 6 amazing colors. Luminous 3D foundation for dry or normal skin has 4 amazing shades from Ivory W130, Beige W100, Beige C130, and Beige W160. Note that in the evening, you can finish on your second step. Yey!
For this regimen, I recommend Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skin Care.
You can start with Botanical Effects Evolution Cleansing Gel and Botanical Effects Evolution Moisturizing Gel.
The 5-Step Skincare routine
The 5-Step Regimen is better suited for those who have few skin concerns slowly coming out. It could be a skin that’s too dry and itchy, too oily with pores slowly appearing to be clogged or combination skin that has periodical acne breakouts. The products for dry skin and oily skin will be different and I have the perfect recommendation for you.
- Cleanse
Wash your face morning and night using the cleanser best suited for your skin and age. Using your beauty fingers ( pinky finger, ring finger and middle finger), begin a gentle, circular motion from your chin up to your forehead.
- Exfoliate
There are many ways to do exfoliation safely. But to make it quick, I suggest you use a facial brush which can be used together with the cleanser. Mary Kay has Skinvigorating Sonic Facial brush which is timed for 60 seconds for a 4x more efficient cleansing compared to using your hands. Depending on your skin condition, you can use the Skinvigorating Brush every day morning and night if you have dry skin or only at night if you have sensitive skin.
- Tone or Freshener
Apply a small amount of toner into a cotton pad or ball and gently dampen into your skin until it is absorbed. Skin freshening is part of the cleaning process which helps tighten the pores.
- Moisturize
Hydrate your skin with a water-based moisturizer every day morning and night. Put a pea-sized amount onto your fingertips and slowly spread from your chin up to your forehead avoiding the eye area.
- Protect
Apply a sunblock, a liquid foundation or a Complexion Correction (CC) cream before going out. This is an essential part of your morning routine especially even when it is not a sunny day. This simple step can help you delay aging, protect from sun-related skin damages like sunburn or pigmentation. Of course, you can apply either CC Cream or Foundation after the moisturizer for double protection.
To make these steps much simpler, I recommend using Mary Kay Timewise Age Minimize 3D basic set. The basic set contains Timewise Age Minimize 3D 4-in-1 Cleanser and Timewise Age Minimize 3D Day Cream with SPF 30 Sunscreen.
The 3D cleanser contains cleansing exfoliating and tonic benefits which already covers Step 1-3 while the Day cream is a moisturizer with broad-spectrum SPF 30 which already covers steps 4 and 5. Both products come with a formula for Dry to Normal Skin and Combination to Oily Skin. Wow! Easy right?
