Why is toner important for your skin?

Who doesn’t want a clear glass skin like our favorite K-Drama idols? Imagine having a youthful and dewy face even at the age of 40. Surprisingly, most Korean women follow a ten-step (or sometimes more) skincare routine to achieve their signature flawless and glowing skin. Their basic skincare routine compromises of cleansing, exfoliation, toning/freshening, treatments or supplements, moisturization, and protection.

In this article, we will be discussing the importance of using a toner. Most girls skip the toner after cleaning their face because this is what we are used to do. But what is a toner and how does it help in achieving a clean and glowing face?

Toner serves a dual purpose according to the article “Here’s How To Use Facial Toner Without Drying Out Your Skin” on Women’s Health website. First, toner helps in cleaning deep-seated dirt, traces of makeup, and oil on your pores which your facial cleanser might have missed. Second, toner helps balance the skin’s pH levels to further help your skin in absorbing the products you will be applying to your face.

Unlike before where toners are used as astringent to treat acne, toners nowadays have different formulations and different purposes. Keep on reading to know which toner best suits your skin.

1. Lumivie Essence Water

The Lumivie essence water helps to prepare skin for maximum absorption of treatment products in your skincare regimen. This ensures you get the optimal benefit of the skincare you are using.

Lumivie essence water is part of the Lumivie Skin Brightening System Regimen. Click here to learn more about Lumivie.

2. Moisture Renewing Softener

Moisture Renewing Softener softens, hydrates, and prepares your skin for the succeeding anti-aging regimen you are using. It is an alcohol-free softener that restores skin’s natural balance formulated with special ingredients that lock the moisture into your skin.

Moisture Renewing Softener contains powerful antioxidants from Acai Berries.  This active ingredient known to minimize the free-radicals on your skin to keep it calm. Therefore, it is good when you have sensitive skin.

3. Clear Proof Blemish Control Toner

Dr. Pimple Popper gained popularity on YouTube because viewers loved the gross procedure of cleaning acne and clogged pores. If you watched her videos, you would learn that dead skin cells, excess sebum, and dirt which accumulate on our pores are the main reason for acne and blackheads. What you don’t know is that acne doesn’t form overnight but it actually takes 2 to 3 weeks before they appear on your face.

To help combat acne and other impurities prevalent in oily or acne-prone skin, it is best to use products with salicylic acid, and activated charcoal. The Mary Kay Clear Proof Toner contains 2% salicylic acid which is recommended for thoroughly cleaning and unclogging pores.

This Blemish-Control toner is part of the Clear Proof Anti-Acne Regimen, click here to know more about this regimen.

4. Botanical Effects Evolution Refreshing Toner

We know that eating certain fruits help us repair our skin from the inside. But what about on the outside? The Botanical Effects Evolution Refreshing Toner combines the power of dragon fruit with the richness of aloe vera. These ingredients are suitable for sensitive skin. Botanical Effects Toner is formulated with denatured alcohol and witch hazel extracts known to remove excess oil.

The good news is that it does not take away moisture from your skin. The Botanical Effects Toner is good on all skin types and good for the planet because of its recyclable bottle.

Botanical Effects Refreshing Toner is part of the Botanical Effects Skincare Regimen of Mary Kay. Click here for more info on this skincare regimen.

Toner is a second step in your skin regimen and is part of the cleansing process. It rebalance the skin from cleansing which can strip off essential oil and moisture in the skin. Therefore, it is a skincare step you should not skip.
